Courts on the hills
Jan 16th, 2009 by alexia
A few Renaissance times courts lie on the hills whose sweet white wine was enthusiastically described by the famous Italian poet, Giosuè Carducci. Scandiano, feud of the XV century poet Count Matteo Maria Boiardo, was also the birthplace of many scientists disputed among imperial courts of all Europe. Arceto hosts a typical Middle Age castle, a shelter for both the Boiardo and Este families. San Donnino offers an aristocratic villa, peculiar for its period forniture and its magnificent park. Castellarano is an interesting example of an historical centre devoloped out of a Middle Age difensive village, highly preserved, whose ancient streets are still cobbled with river stones.
